What does a “Verified ID” badge mean, and how can I get it?

What is a "Verified ID" badge?

It's a badge that appears on a seller's profile and ads on Jiji. It shows that the seller has verified their identity through KYC verification.

What is KYC verification?

It's a process of verifying users by checking their ID details or document and matching them with a selfie. We do this with the help of the identity verification solution SmileID.

How do I get a "Verified ID" badge?

Make sure you have an active Boost Package. Then go to your profile settings, click the "Verified ID badge" option, and follow the instructions.

I can't see the "Verified ID badge" option in settings. Why?

It probably means that you haven't created an ad yet. Since this feature is available to sellers, it appears in your settings when you have at least one ad in any status. Create your first ad, and the option to verify your ID will appear.

What should I do to pass KYC verification?

You'll need to take a selfie, fill in the required ID details, and submit everything for verification.

How long is this badge valid?

The badge is currently available to sellers with active Boost Packages. If your Boost Package becomes inactive, your badge will stop being visible. However, the verification you've already passed still counts. Once you get another Boost Package, the badge will become visible on your profile and ads again.

I submitted my ID and selfie, but I didn't get a badge. What should I do?

This may happen for a few reasons:

  1. The document you tried to submit is not confirmed in the database, so we can't verify it. In this case, you'll receive a notification asking you to submit another document.
  2. The picture you attached doesn't clearly show whether the document belongs to you. In this case, you'll receive a notification asking you to find a place with good lighting and take another selfie. Remember that your face must be clearly visible in the picture.
  3. You entered the wrong ID details. In this case, try to resubmit your application and double-check every field you filled in. If the verification is still unsuccessful, try another type of document.
