How do I chat with a seller?

Chat is the easiest way to reach a seller on Jiji and ask about a product. Here's how to start a conversation:

  1. Open the ad you're interested in;
  2. Click the "Start chat" button (or the message icon on mobile);
  3. Type your message and click Send.

The seller will get a notification and can reply right inside Jiji. All your conversations are saved, so you can always pick up where you left off.

Where to find your chats:

  • On the website: click the chat icon in the top-right corner of any page;
  • In the mobile app: tap the Chats tab at the bottom.

Tips for a smooth conversation:

  • Be specific. Mention the exact item you're asking about and what you'd like to know — size, condition, delivery options, the lowest price, and so on.
  • Be polite. Sellers are real people; a friendly tone gets faster, better replies.
  • Stay on Jiji. Keep the conversation inside Jiji until you've agreed on the deal — this keeps your messages safe and gives you a record if anything goes wrong.
  • Don't share sensitive info. Never share your bank details, OTPs, or payment passwords in chat. Genuine sellers won't ask for them.
