Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have more than one Jiji account?

No — Jiji's rules ask each person to use a single account. Multiple accounts from the same person can be detected and penalised.

Why we don't allow duplicate accounts

  • Fair posting limits. Each account has free posting slots in every category. Multiple accounts let one person bypass these limits and crowd out other sellers.
  • Trust and accountability. Feedback, ratings, and verification belong to a single seller identity. Splitting them across accounts confuses buyers and breaks the trust system.
  • Anti-scam protection. Scammers often create fresh accounts after being blocked. Treating accounts as unique helps us identify and stop them.

How we detect duplicate accounts

Jiji uses several signals to identify accounts that belong to the same person — for example, the same phone, the same email, repeated device fingerprints, similar ad patterns, and shared payment details. When the system finds a match, the duplicate account's ads are usually hidden from search (moved to drafts) and the account can be restricted or blocked.

What if you really need multiple accounts?

  • If you run several distinct businesses, you don't need separate accounts — you can post ads under different categories from one account, and use your Company profile to organise them.
  • If you share your business with a partner or team, use one shared business account rather than personal accounts each.

What about an old account I forgot about?

If you've registered earlier and lost access to that account, don't open a new one — recover the old one instead:

  • Try the "Forgot password" flow with your old phone number or email;
  • If you no longer have access to that phone or email, contact our Support Team at support@jiji.ng and explain the situation. Include any details that prove the old account is yours.

Blocked account

If your account was blocked for rule violations, creating a new account to bypass the block is itself a rule violation — both accounts can end up blocked. Instead, see Why is my account restricted or blocked? for the right way to resolve it.
