How do I manage push notifications?

Push notifications appear on your phone's lock screen and notification tray when something important happens on Jiji — a new chat message, a price drop on an ad you saved, a new ad matching your saved search, and so on. You can fine-tune which ones you receive.

Inside the Jiji app

  1. Open the Jiji app and go to My Profile → Settings;
  2. Choose "Manage notifications";
  3. You'll see a list of notification categories — chats, ad activity, recommendations, promotions, follower updates, feedback, etc.;
  4. Turn each category on or off as you like, then tap "Save".

In your phone's system settings

Even if all categories are enabled inside Jiji, your phone needs to permit notifications too.

  • Android: open your phone's Settings → Apps → Jiji → Notifications. Make sure notifications are allowed for Jiji.
  • iPhone / iPad: open Settings → Notifications → Jiji. Make sure "Allow notifications" is on.

Troubleshooting: I'm not receiving push notifications

  • Make sure you're signed in to the Jiji app (push only works for signed-in users);
  • Check that notifications are enabled both inside Jiji and in your phone's system settings;
  • Make sure your phone has Internet access and the app is up to date;
  • Check that battery saver / data saver mode isn't blocking background notifications;
  • If you have a Boost Package and rely on SMS notifications for new messages, check your SMS settings separately.
