Concrete Compaction Factor Apparatus, used in civil engineering to determine the workability and compactibility of fresh concrete mixes (especially low-workability mixes where standard slump tests are less reliable).
Key Components & Design
Two Conical Hoppers: Upper and lower rigid funnels fitted with hinged trap-door trapdoors and quick-release pins to let concrete drop through.
Cylindrical Container: Positioned at the bottom to collect and measure the partially compacted concrete sample.
Rigid Metal Stand: A sturdy steel or iron frame supporting the hoppers and cylinder in precise vertical alignment.
Working Principle
The compacting factor is calculated as the ratio of the weight of partially compacted concrete (from free fall through the hoppers) to the weight of an equal volume of fully compacted concrete.
