The HeartStart FR2+ is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) — a portable device used to deliver an electric shock to the heart of someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest (for example due to ventricular fibrillation or certain rapid arrhythmias) to try to restore a normal heartbeat.
• It is designed for both professional responders (paramedics, medical staff) and trained lay-people or first-responders.
• The unit is portable and battery-powered, with a long-life lithium battery providing around 300 shocks or ~12 hours operation when new.
• It comes with electrode pads that attach to the patient’s bare chest (or front-and-back for infants/children), and works for both adult and infant/child patients (if the correct pads are used) — making it versatile for different age groups.
