PEP and PrEP are preventive medications. They are taken after and before exposure to HIV respectively. PEP is taken once daily for 28 days after possible exposure to HIV. It is to be taken within 72 hours of the exposure. The earlier the better. Whereas, PrEP is taken daily, before exposure to still protect those at high risks of becoming infected.
