*What it’s used for:*
1. *Test liquid density* - Drop the glass hydrometer in liquid inside the tall cylinder. It floats higher/lower depending on density. The scale tells you "specific gravity" = how heavy the liquid is vs water.
2. *Check fuel + chemicals* - 0.800-0.900 range is perfect for:
- *Diesel/Ago, Kerosene, Petrol/PMS* - Spot adulterated fuel fast
- *Oils, solvents, alcohol* - QC in labs, filling stations, chemical plants
3. *QC + Fraud detection* - If diesel should read 0.830 but reads 0.800, it’s been mixed with something lighter. Big issue for oil/gas companies.
