*Industrial Salt* — also called *Rock Salt* or *Bulk Salt / NaCl*
Basic Info about Industrial Salt.
Main Industrial Uses
1. *Water treatment*: Water softeners. The salt regenerates ion-exchange resins to remove hardness Ca2+/Mg2+
2. *Chemical industry*: Main raw material for making caustic soda NaOH, chlorine Cl2, and soda ash via chlor-alkali process
3. *De-icing*: Melts ice on roads, highways, walkways in cold countries
4. *Oil & Gas*: Drilling fluid additive to stabilize wells and prevent clay swelling
5. *Textile & Dyeing*: Used as dye bath additive and to improve dye uptake
6. *Leather tanning*: Preserves hides and in tanning process
7. Food processing.
