Lightning and Earthing Protection
Lightning Protection:
Lightning protection is a system designed to safeguard buildings, equipment, and people from the damaging effects of lightning strikes. It provides a controlled path for the high voltage and current from a lightning discharge to safely reach the ground, preventing structural damage, fires, and electrical surges.
Main Components of a Lightning Protection System (LPS):
1. Air Termination System (Lightning Arrestor):
Installed at the highest points of a structure to intercept lightning strikes. Common types include spike-type, ball-type, and early streamer emission (ESE) arrestors.
