Stone breaker leaf, scientifically known as Phyllanthus niruri (and also frequently referred to as Chanca Piedra or seed-under-leaf), is a tropical herb famous for its traditional use in treating and preventing kidney stones.
While it has a long history in Ayurvedic, African, and Amazonian traditional medicine, modern research is still exploring its therapeutic boundaries.
Primary Health Benefits
• Kidney Stone Relief: Studies indicate that the herb may help block the formation of calcium oxalate crystals (the most common type of kidney stones). It acts as a diuretic to help flush minerals out of the body and can relax the urinary tract muscles to make passing small stones easier. Small clinical trials showed that daily intake reduced the size and quantity of stones in about two-thirds of participants.
