Nexium 40 mg (Uk) contains esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that lowers the amount of acid produced in the stomach. What It Is Used For • GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease): Treats acid reflux, heartburn, and damage to the food pipe (erosive esophagitis) in adults and adolescents aged 12 and older. • Stomach and Gut Ulcers: Helps heal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori (often paired with antibiotics) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Treats conditions causing excessive stomach acid production. • Ulcer Rebleeding Prevention: Used for prolonged treatment after intravenous therapy to prevent stomach or gut ulcers from rebleeding.
