A *pH Booster* is a chemical that raises the pH - meaning it makes water or a solution *less acidic and more alkaline.*
If pH is low (0-6.9) = acidic. If pH is 7.1-14 = alkaline. Booster pushes it up toward 7-8.
Common types:
*1. For water / pool / aquarium:*
- *Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash) - Na2CO3* - most common
- *Sodium Bicarbonate - NaHCO3* - milder, slower
- Works by adding carbonate that neutralizes acid
*2. For industrial / chemical:*
- *Sodium Hydroxide - NaOH (Caustic soda)*
- *Potassium Hydroxide - KOH*
- Stronger, for wastewater treatment
*3. For soil / agriculture:*
- *Agricultural Lime - CaCO3*
How it works:
Acid has too much H+ . The booster releases OH- or CO3 which binds the H+ and pH goes up.
Example for pool:
pH 6.2 (acidic, eye burning) + Soda Ash → pH 7.4 (balanced, safe
