D-Calcium Pantothenate is the calcium salt of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), and it’s commonly used as a dietary supplement and in fortified foods. Here are its main uses:
1. Nutritional Supplement
• It helps prevent or treat pantothenic acid deficiency, which is rare but can occur in cases of malnutrition or absorption disorders.
• Common in multivitamins, B-complex supplements, and energy-boosting products.
2. Support for Energy Metabolism
• Pantothenic acid is a precursor to coenzyme A (CoA), essential in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy.
3. Skin and Hair Health
• Included in cosmetic products like creams, lotions, and shampoos due to its role in promoting skin barrier function and hair strength.
• Sometimes used for acne treatment or to support wound healing.
