On the imp splitters are male xlr jacks, one female xlr jack and one switch as outlined below. (note: sections in parenthesis refer only to the imp splitter 1x3 and all other sections refer to both.

female xlr input jack for connection of a low impedance balanced signal such as that of a microphone.
direct output and isolated output (1 and 2)
male xlr jacks. the direct output is a straight through connection from the input jack and will pass phantom power. the isolated outputs each provide a low impedance (150 ohms) balanced output signal through a whirlwind trsp transformer and will not pass phantom power.
