MEG is an important industrial chemical, primarily used for Antifreeze and Coolants, and Polyester Production. Monoethylene glycol (MEG), or ethylene glycol, is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid with a sweet taste that is used primarily to produce polyester fibers and resins, including PET (polyethylene terephthalate), and as a major component in antifreeze and engine coolants. While useful for many industrial applications, it is toxic if ingested, potentially causing fatal organ damage.
