Mandrill (music group) was an American funk, soul, jazz, and Latin rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 1968 by the Wilson brothers, who were originally from Panama. Known for blending multiple musical styles, Mandrill created a distinctive sound that combined funk rhythms, jazz improvisation, rock energy, Latin percussion, and African musical influences. Their performances were also recognized for elaborate costumes and theatrical stage shows. Some of their best-known songs include "Fencewalk," "Can You Get It," and "Happy Beat." During the 1970s, Mandrill gained a loyal following and became influential in the development of jazz-funk and fusion music. Their music has also been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists, introducing their work to new generations of listeners.
