A *ceiling profile* is the metal frame that holds up a ceiling.
Think of it as the skeleton behind a POP or drywall ceiling. Without it, your ceiling board has nothing to hang on.
*In simple terms:*
It's a lightweight steel channel (usually galvanized so it doesn't rust) that is fixed to the wall and roof, then the ceiling boards are screwed to it.
*The 2 main parts:*
- *Perimeter / Wall Angle (UD profile):* The L-shaped one fixed around the walls. It holds the edges.
- *Main Channel / Ceiling C-Channel (CD profile):* The C-shaped one that runs across the middle. This is what carries most of the weight.
*Why it's used:*
1. To get a perfectly flat ceiling
2. To hide wires, pipes, AC ducts
3. To stop cracks - unlike wood, metal doesn't warp with heat
4. To carry lights, fans, POP designs
