A steel sheet pile is a long, rolled steel section with interlocking edges (clutches) that allow them to be connected side by side to form a continuous wall.
They are driven into the ground using vibratory hammers, hydraulic presses, or impact hammers to create barriers for earth retention and water cutoff.

Functions of Steel Sheet Piles
1. Soil Retention – Prevents soil from collapsing in deep excavations.
2. Water Cutoff – Reduces or stops water seepage in underground works and marine projects.
3. Excavation Support – Provides temporary or permanent support for construction of basements, tunnels, culverts, and bridge foundations.
4. Slope & Bank Protection – Protects riverbanks, shorelines, and harbors from erosion.
5. Cofferdams – Forms temporary enclosures in water for bridge piers, dams, and marine works.
