Loctite 242 is a general-purpose, medium- strength blue threadlocker designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners ranging from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch (M6 to M36). It cures anaerobically-meaning it hardens when confined between close-fitting metal threads in the complete absence of oxygen. Its primary function is to prevent nuts, bolts, and screws from backing out or loosening due to severe vibrations, shocks, or thermal expansion, while still allowing them to be disassembled using standard hand tools.
