what it is for:
it's an electronic pressure switch/controller. instead of using a traditional pressure tank and mechanical switch, you connect this directly to your water pump. it automatically starts the pump when you open a tap (pressure drops) and stops it when you close the tap. it also protects the pump from dry-running / failure.
