The D-Link DGS-1008A 8-port Gigabit easy desktop switch is an unmanaged network switch designed to quickly expand high-speed wired connections for home or small office networks. It also takes a single internet connection from your router and splits it into eight high-speed wired paths to connect multiple data-heavy devices simultaneously. Standard fast Ethernet maxes out at 100 Mbps. This Gigabit switch supports speeds up to 1000Mbps per port. In full-duplex mode (sending and receiving data at the same time), it can handle up yo 2000Mbps. This ensures that local file transfers, 4k video streaming, and online gaming happen without lag or buffering. In older setups, connecting a switch to a router or another switch required special "crossover" Ethernet cables. The ports on this device automatically detect the cable type.
