Many civil engineering projects require the use of fill material. Whenever soil is placed as an engineering fill, it is usually compacted to a dense state, to obtain satisfactory engineering properties. Compaction on site is is usually effected by mechanical means such as rolling, ramming or vibrating. Control of compaction is necessary to achieve a satisfactory result at a reasonable cost. Laboratory compaction tests provide the basis for control procedures used on site.
And "Do you know how to compute in-situ density test. .?
But first, here are the apparatus and equipment for the In-situ density test.
1) Sand cone made to fit closely with the sand holding jar and fitted with quick opening and closing knob.
2) Sand density cone apparatus
Standard ASTM D-1556/AASHTO T-191
Ø 6.5 inch (165.1mm)
3) Base Plate used as a guide to dig the hole and to create level surface.
4) Hammer and Chisel with brush use to complete the test apparatus.
