Social Studies, which is the study of man and his environment, is a very important subject in basic education in Nigeria. Generally, it is the study of social relationships and the functioning of the society and it is composed of many courses, which are usually studied in some institutions of higher learning such as the universities and Colleges of Education in the country. The courses are economics, government, history, civics, sociology, geography and anthropology.
This subject offers a unique opportunity for the young students to be exposed to these courses, which largely belong to the Social Sciences at an early age.
