I’ve been working as a cook in restaurants for the past 4 years,
As a kitchen assistant most of my time was overseeing the general hygienic kitchen environment.
As a Cook at Verlush restaurant and lounge in Makurdi, Most of that time was spent on soup, rice, and grill stations. I’m very comfortable with Nigerian soups like egusi, ogbono, efo riro, and pepper soup. I also handle jollof rice and fried rice daily, and I’m in charge of grilling chicken, fish, and beef to order.
What I learned there is how to cook in bulk but still keep the taste and presentation consistent, manage time during rush hour, and keep my station clean to meet food safety standards.
