T is used by network and telephone technicians to insert and trim wires into IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact) terminals without stripping the wire first.
Common uses include:
* Terminating Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cables onto keystone jacks.
* Punching wires into patch panels.
* Connecting telephone cables to 110 or Krone terminal blocks (depending on the blade installed).
The tool works by:
1. Placing the wire into the slot on the terminal.
2. Positioning the punch-down blade over the wire.
3. Pressing down firmly until the tool “clicks.”
4. The blade pushes the wire into the terminal and, if using the cutting side, trims off the excess wire.
