Holiday detector spring (or rolling spring electrode) is used to find tiny holes, cracks, or discontinuities (holidays) in protective coatings on the outside of pipes by rolling over the surface, allowing for non-destructive testing of insulation to prevent corrosion, leaks, and environmental damage. These spring electrodes maintain continuous contact with the coated pipe, sending a current through any flaws to the metal substrate, triggering an alarm.
