A chandelier chain is a metal hanging link used to support the weight of a ceiling light fixture and adjust its hanging height. Link chains: Made of connected metal loops (oval, round, or rectangular) that offer high strength and flexibility. Bead/Loop chains: Decorative styles like rolo or bead patterns used for lighter fixtures. Common finishes: Polished brass, brushed nickel, antique bronze, chrome, and black. Turn off power at the circuit breaker before touching any fixture. Support the fixture so it does not fall while you remove links. Use two pairs of pliers to twist a link open sideways (rather than pulling it apart) to remove extra links or detach the wire weave. Weave the electrical cord through the remaining links and reconnect the fixture.
