Gaviscon Double Action is used mainly to relieve heartburn and acid reflux.
It works in two ways:
* Alginates form a protective layer that helps stop stomach acid from coming back up into the oesophagus.
* Antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) help neutralize excess stomach acid.
It can help with symptoms such as:
* Heartburn or burning in the chest
* Acid reflux/regurgitation
* Sour or acidic taste in the mouth
* Indigestion associated with excess stomach acid
It is generally taken after meals and at bedtime, but the exact dose depends on the formulation (liquid or tablets), so follow the package instructions.
