A Blood Transfusion Set (BT Set) is a specialized, sterile medical consumable designed specifically for the safe intravenous administration of whole blood and blood components (such as packed red blood cells, platelets, and plasma).
While it closely resembles a standard intravenous (IV) infusion set, a BT set features critical engineering differences—most notably a built-in micro-aggregate filter—to handle the unique viscosity and cellular makeup of human blood without causing hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells) or introducing dangerous clots into the patient's bloodstream.
