Guinea cloth refers to a type of Indian-made cotton textile, traditionally blue, white, blue and white striped, or checked, and often loom-patterned. It was a significant commodity in the Atlantic slave trade, shipped from India to Europe and then to Africa's Guinea Coast and the West Indies. The term also encompasses European-made imitations of these Indian cloths. Today, "Guinea Brocade" or "Bazin" are terms used for similar, high-quality cotton fabrics with a distinctive shine and often used in African fashion.
