A maglock is an electrified locking device that uses low-voltage power to keep an entrance secure. Also referred to as an electromagnetic lock or magnetic lock, they consist of an electromagnet and an armature plate.
Benefits:
Strong security: Mag locks can withstand up to 1200 pounds of force, providing great protection for secure areas.
Double-sided security: Mag locks can control access on both sides of the door, unlike electric strikes which only secure one side.
Because mag locks by design require a constant supply of electricity to remain locked, mag locks are fail-safe only. They do not function to keep the door locked from either side when the power is out
A maglock of any description will require connection to a permanent power source. This will generally require power running through a wall to the maglock.
