Sulfate of Potash (SOP), is a chloride-free potassium fertilizer widely used in agriculture, typically containing 50% K2O (equivalent to about 41–44% elemental K) and 17–18% sulfur (S) in plant-available sulfate form. It supplies essential potassium for enzyme activation, protein synthesis, starch and sugar formation, water regulation, drought/disease resistance, and improved fruit/seed quality, while the sulfur supports amino acid and protein production, chlorophyll function, and overall plant metabolism. It is particularly recommended for chloride-sensitive crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cucurbits, leafy vegetables, fruits (citrus, bananas, mangoes, grapes), tobacco, and some cash crops, applied as basal dressing, top-dressing, fertigation, or foliar sprays on soils low in K or S. Key benefits include enhanced crop quality.
