Hexaconazole is a systemic triazole fungicide widely used in as a protective, curative, and eradicant foliar treatment that inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis in fungal cell membranes by blocking the enzyme lanosterol. It effectively controls major diseases such as sheath blight and blast in rice, powdery mildew in grapes, mangoes, cucurbits (e.g., cucumbers, melons), and vegetables, rusts and leaf spots in cereals (wheat, maize), anthracnose and scab in fruits, tikka/leaf spot in groundnuts, and various leaf spots/blights in tomatoes, peppers, and other crops, with common formulations like 5% SC or EC applied as sprays in tropical farming systems. Key benefits include strong systemic absorption and upward translocation for internal protection, long residual activity (often 2-4 weeks), broad-spectrum efficacy.
