The Debauwi catfish (Pareutropius buffei or Pareutropius debauwi), also known as the African glass catfish, is a small, active, schooling freshwater fish native to the rivers of West and Central Africa.Quick FactsSize: Grows up to about 3 to 4.5 inches (7.5 to 11.5 cm).Behavior: Peaceful, diurnal (active during the day), and midwater-swimming.Social Needs: Must be kept in a group (school) of 5 or more to feel safe and act naturally.Diet: Omnivorous; they eat tiny live foods, frozen foods, and sinking flakes or pellets.Aquarium CareTank Size: At least 20 to 30 gallons to accommodate a proper school.Water Flow: Prefers moderate water movement and clean, well-oxygenated water.Setup: Thrives in planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space in the middle.Water Temperature: 24–27°C (75–81°F).Water pH: 6.0–7.5.
