Autodesk MotionBuilder 2025 marks the program’s biggest update in years with the addition of Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD) support. The new USD plugin lets users load entire USD scenes—including textures and lights—directly into the viewport alongside MotionBuilder data, enabling animators to work in full context within USD-based VFX and animation pipelines. Technical artists can now interact with USD scenes through Python scripting. Other enhancements include the ability to stretch multiple selected clips in Loop mode in the Story Tool, lock Global/Take timestamps on the timeline, new shortcuts for common tasks, updated Python scripts, and improved handling of warning messages for better workflow and performance.
