The distinguishing feature of those canes is the raw material used in production, namely cornel tree. Those trees grow by themselves on humid lands of the region. Each year, 6-7 branches are cut off from a cornel tree and left to dry for two years to be later used for cane-making. Once dried, the branches are straightened by hand and crafting begins. Thanks to the flexibility and robustness of the branches, even most sophisticated patterns can be applied on thinnest canes.
