When a CCTV camera detects movement, it starts recording the video so that it may be reviewed later. You can choose to have the system record every second of footage if you believe it is required for your property, but be warned that this consumes a lot of storage.
The footage from analog cameras will be transferred to a DVR through a coaxial connection in systems with analog cameras. The DVR will record footage from the analog cameras in digital format, replacing the previous analog recorders with videotapes. When the DVR's hard disk storage capacity is reached, older images will be replaced by newer ones, starting with the oldest.
