It was Maurice White, the soul of Earth Wind & Fire, who revived Rogers' career after this misstep by allowing him to sign with Columbia. Released in 1978, “Love Brought Me Back” is a great success, recorded with Rogers' usual collaborators (Jerry Peters, Keni Burke, Michael Wycoff, Charlie Wilson, etc.) and other big names from the Californian studios. The title track even gave Rogers his biggest hit on the R&B charts – only a modest 20th place. Rogers' next two albums, “Trust Me” and “The Message Is Still The Same”, released on Maurice White's own label, ARC (distributed by Columbia) went almost unnoticed, but several of his singles ranked in the R&B charts, including a duet with Patrice Rushen, Givin' it up is givin' up .
