Tylosin tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic, and like other macrolide antibiotic, tylosin inhibits bacteria growth by binding to 30s ribosomal subunit and thereby inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria. it has broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive aerobic bacteria like clostridium, corynebacterium and lawsonia intracellularis. it's used for gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma infections for susceptible bacterial infections in cattle (cbpp), small ruminant (ccpp), pigs (pneumonia and dysentery caused by treponema) and chickens (crd, infectious rhinitis). it can also be used in cases of secondary bacterial infection by clostridium perfringes a sequel to coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis.
