Uchechukwu worked at Erstwhile Oceanic Bank International Plc, from start of his career in 2008, as a Relationship Manager and was responsible for the bank’s business development and customer service as well as manage over 6,000 retail end of the market prior to its merger with Ecobank Nigeria.
Following his outstanding experience in banking and passion to drive SME businesses, he later joined Accion Microfinance Bank Limited in 2015 as pioneer Branch Controller in Port Harcourt. While in the bank, He was saddled with the task of carrying out quality assurance and risk assessment on the business of the bank. He later joined S S Afemikhe Consulting Limited in 2016 shortly after his ICAN induction, where he garner more exposure in Audit and Assurance. He was part of the team that executed several financial review of USAID’s project under US GAAP and Value for Money Audit (VFM) in NNPC related Joint Venture activities such as SPDC JOA.
In 2017, Uchechukwu was hired by Eurafric Group as a Senior Group Accountant and grew to become the Acting Finance Manager in 2019.He executed several projects spanning across the group including its downstream and upstream activities and within the group such as Eurafric Energy Ltd Dawes Island Joint venture, where he carries out JV reconciliations and report on performance of periodic budgets and Smartergrid International Ltd, where he developed financial model templates and facilitated the mobilization of over $1Million grants from GSMA and GSBI.
Uchechukwu Uchendu holds a HND in Accounting from Abia State Polytechnic as Best All-round Graduate in 2006 and Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as well as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)
