Kenneth began working as an Executive Officer (Accounts) at the multi-million Naira Integrated Health Programme of the Catholic of Diocese of Makurdi in Makurdi, Benue State. He rose to the position of Head of Accounts and Finance at IHP after being found worthy of appointment into that position by the Leadership of the Diocese.
In his current position of Head of Accounts and Finance, he supervises the accounts and finance staff of 10 hospitals owned by the Diocese. He also supervises the finance and accounts staff working in the headquarters of IHP.
Specifically, as a Head of Accounts and Finance at Integrated Health Program (IHP) of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Kenneth carries out analysis and assessment of budgeting, utilization and liquidation of IHP funds on a regular basis; provides the health care facilities of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi with cost analysis and financial advisory services; advises the account staff and management of the health care facilities of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi on optimal resource utilization and recommends better ways of carrying out organizational operations to meet specified goals/objectives; ensures all project financial and narrative reports are submitted to the donors and the Health Management Board; acquired QuickBooks software for IHP and uses it to maintain accounting records of financial transactions of IHP and also produce financial reports; set up tracking systems of all the financial activities connected with IHP and provides accurate and weekly updates of financial matters of IHP to the management; handles calculations and payments of salaries, allowances, travel claims and other payments to staff members, experts, consultants, vendors and other claimants; ensures timely transfer of project funds to the implementing health care facilities of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi; participates in the preparation of agreements with donors for mobilization of resources and monitors the implementation of Grants/Agreements accordingly; reviews budget expenditures against approved allotments; reconciles cashbooks with bank statements; assists program officers by providing information on allotment reports, availability of funds and expenditure procedures; maintains liaison with officials of local Banks in Makurdi to obtain dally Information on matters regarding to maintenance of office bank accounts and reconciliation of Bank accounts; undertakes financial monitoring visits to the implementing health care facilities to ensure the maintenance of appropriate records and timely retirement of IHP’s donor funds; secures cash and cheques; prepares correspondences and replies financial queries with justifications.
Kenneth builds capacity in financial management and has excellent knowledge of the financial and administrative rules, procedures and practices of donors including USAID, Global Fund, CDC, DFID, Bill and Melinda Gate, CAFOD, and EU. He is able to use Quick Books, Sage, and SUN System
As required by the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) of which he is a Member, Kenneth is currently doing internship (during non-working hours/weekends) at Akor Ikpam & Co(Certified National Accountants) in Makurdi, Benue State
