Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Communications Manager with all aspects of marketing communications, with a team approach. Desire to collaborate and brainstorm creative ideas and new strategies for communicating with donors, volunteers and adopters.
Designs printed materials (flyers, brochures, business forms, cards, ads, invitations, etc.), ensuring a consistent look and feel across departments and programs.
Responsible for design, layout, printing and coordinating distribution of quarterly newsletter, "PawPrint."
Website and Social Media:
Serves as organization's webmaster — updates content and keeps site fluid.
Assists Communications Manager with website copy development.
Coordinates all aspects of Adoptable Animals section of the website:
Runs Adoptable Animals reports twice weekly, cross-checks against website, assigns site updates, photography, video and writing of animal bios to volunteers, and ensures site accurately reflects current inventory.
Continually recruits, develops and trains new volunteers, and assumes responsibility for all of above tasks, should volunteers be unavailable.
Responsible for driving social media content — seeks out stories and develops engaging content to drive donations, adoptions and volunteer recruitment.
Drafts responses to social media reviews and outside posts.
Assists Communications Manager with development of annual Communications Plan, which includes content calendar and weekly implementation plan for all activities (promotions, social media, newsletter content, media outreach, etc.).
Drives implementation of all projects; delivers written reports on progress in weekly status update meetings and notifies manager of roadblocks as they arise.

Directly supervises volunteers with regard to the website, community events and outreach. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; 4-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal candidate will have worked in a non-profit setting.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and promotional and creative writing. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
