You can use this type of DIGITAL PHASE CONVERTER in two ways,
In the conventional mode it will allow you to run a directly connected 415 Volts 3 phase motor up to the supply capacity of the converter so 20 HP in the case of this converter,
It will give you all the normal inverter function of motor control like :-
SOFT START - You can program the unit with the required motor start time and the inverter will ramp up the motor to the requested running speed in the time set,
FULL MOTOR SPEED CONTROL - Advanced VECTOR control will allow you to have the motor running at very low speed BUT will full power(take motor cooling into account if using for long periods at low speed)
ELECTRONIC BRAKE - STOP the motor within a preset time
You can use the removable front panel to control the motor and select forward/reverse or you can use one of the many remote control boxes we stock to control the motor
PLUG & PLAY MODE
Another SPECIAL feature of this converter is the ability to run it in Plug and Play mode,
In this mode you can take the 415 Volts output of the converter and connect it to your machine so that the existing machines START/STOP buttons and switches will still work to control the machine as if it was connected to a factory 3 phase supply,
You need to take into account the motors starting requirements when sizing up the converter for Plug and Play mode, normally a 3 phase motor will require at start up a surge of 3 to 8 times the normal running power and the size of converter needs to be large enough to provide this power,
Unless the machine has a very high start load for example in the case of a planer machine because of the cutter block's inertia you can go for a 3 x overload rating, as an example the main motor on a 5HP lathe will require a 15HP surge to get it going,
All this range of DIGITAL Plug and Play Converter allow you to take a 150% overload for 30 seconds so the 15HP starting requirement of the 5HP lathe can be accommodated by this 20 HP converter,
As the output from this unit is a DIGITAL output you can only use it to power normal motor/switch loads and not any items that contain electronics,
If you need to provide power for an item with electronics of any type you will need to fit a SINE WAVE FILTER(See ) to the output, once you have this fitted then you can power machines with electronics in them and even running a CNC machines is possible,
If your machine required a NEUTRAL then this can be generated by fitting a NEUTRAL GENERATOR at the output of the SINE FILTER BUT as an N line is normally just a way for your machine to get back a 220 Volts supply we can oftern talk you through feeding a 220 Volts supply to the machine to power this part of the load thus saving you the cost of an extra part,
This type of Plug and Play system when correctly sized can be used to power a whole workshop via a ring main,

At FULL LOAD this unit would require a 220 Volts feed of 100 Amps, these can also be supplied to run on a BI PHASE 480 Volts supply and in that case 50 Amps would be required,
