RE: Application for Senior Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist.
I hereby write to submit my application for the position of Senior Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist that was advertised. I have educated myself about your organization and the role; I feel that the primary purpose of this role and the organization’s vision, mission and values fit my skills, experience, qualities and values perfectly.
Am a COREN Registered Civil and Water Engineer, an enthusiastic Humanitarian, with seven (7) years working experience in managing integrated WASH projects, Shelter, rehabilitation and construction of buildings, Seven (7)years of direct management of such projects through design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; operations and administration in emergency, conflict, post-conflict and development setting.
Am currently working with Family Health International (FHI360) as Assistant WASH Coordinator in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Also, worked with International Organization for Migration IOM United Nations Agency as Shelter and WASH Technical Supervisor in Yola Adamawa State, Nigeria implementing integrated Shelter and WASH in IDP camps and host communities, I worked for Spectrum Engineering Limited as the Structural and Project Engineer. These placements did not only provide me with professional but also cross-cultural experience and built my resilience to live and work with people from different cultural backgrounds and very often with limited resources. I have B.Eng. Civil and Water Resources Engineering (2:1), Masters (M.Eng) in Soil and Water Engineering, with various practical trainings in Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) ,Human resource management, Security and Risk management, Procurement and Logistics procedures, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation will all go a long way in helping me to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of this position in a professional and excellent manner. In my current and previous jobs I provided good leadership in ensure efficient and effective coordination of humanitarian partners as WASH Sub-Sector Lead in our area of operations, obtaining feedback and complaints from affected Communities and providing feedback to humanitarian actors to influence humanitarian programming and shape quality programming, orientation and management of Staffs and coordinating and liaising with Government, UN Agencies, INGOs, NGOs and other Stakeholders on programming.
I have also been involved in project need assessment, designing and implementing response plans, developing budgets and writing concept notes/new proposals, managing project budgets through timely reviews and adjustments, preparation of monthly cash projections and monitoring expenditures, writing monthly and donor financial and narrative reports, assessing training and capacity building needs of partners and project staffs. I believe that all these experiences, knowledge, skills, personalities and the motivation in me will not only help in executing my roles but also help to achieve organization’s vision.
